About this Cause

The Regional Environmental Council (REC) is bringing people together to create a just food system and build healthy, sustainable, and equitable communities in Worcester, MA and beyond. We do this through our three food justice initiatives: UGROW a network of more than 70 community and school gardens that receive support to successfully grown produce in an urban environment; REC Community Farmers Markets that bring local farmers together and reach neighborhoods where price and proximately are barriers to healthy, local food access with three mobile market vehicles; and YouthGROW a year-round employment and leadership development program for teens, from historically under resourced neighborhoods, on three urban farms.
